Godspell (2012)
Renegade Theatre Company is excited to share Godspell (2012) by Stephen Schwartz with Atlanta audiences this March. Boasting a score with chart-topping songs, a book by a visionary playwright (John-Michael Tebelak) and a feature film, Godspell is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.
A Glimpse Into Our Interpretation
As we see the rise of Christian Nationalism and fascism in this country, there is a quickly growing need for us to stand up and stand together. This production will be influenced heavily by Atlanta protests and demonstrations, as well as the punk scene. We are excited to craft a production full of solidarity and collective power that comes from community. Our production will take to heart the lyrics “Not thrones and crowns, but men.”
– Mattie Weeks, Director
CAUSE WE’RE SUPPORTING
As with all of our productions, a portion of proceeds will be donated to a cause we believe in. For this production, we’re raising funds to Lost N Found Youth, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that exists to end homelessness for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) and all sexual minority youth.
